You have the great collaborative work of the people behind Worldmapper: they developed an algorithm that allows you to see the world and the various sizes of the country therein, through various statistics. The results are comparable maps (cartograms) whose geometry or space is distorted in order to convey the information of a chosen variable. (EN) I’ve just realized that personal data visualization is a new entry in the top ten of digital addictions. Collecting data about minutiae of daily life, throwing them in some software like Daytum or Mycrocosm (from the MIT Social Media Group!) and discussing about the colourful results is time consuming but, i guess, fulfilling in some way. The website FlowingData launched a Personal Visualization Project in which partecipants had to collect data about themselves or surroundings and visualize it in some way.
