Italia Design is an undergraduate field school and research program offered by the School of Interactive Arts + Technology (SIAT) at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. The most significant contribution to the field are interviews conducted with emergent and established players in the Italian design community. Each year, a new team builds on the previous year’s research. Gruppo Nove, the ninth group of senior design students to embark on this adventure together with Prof.Russell Taylor , came and visit me in May 2014 to discuss around design and what I do at Arduino and WeMake, the makerspace I recently founded in Milan. A completare il percorso didattico del Master Relational Design, ogni mese sono previste talks online, in cui professionisti, operanti in diversi campi disciplinari, sono invitati a raccontare le proprie esperienze lavorative e a condividere la loro expertise con gli studenti. La talk che ho tenuto lo scorso 17 Giugno 2014 ha introdotto le esplorazioni del concetto di open design dalle sperimentazione avvenute con Serpica Naro a partire dal 2005, passando per il progetto europeo Openwear sino ad arrivare alle esperienza di costruzione del makerspace WeMake a Milano. Agents of alternatives – Re-designing our realities
In 2014 I gave a contribution to Agents of Alternatives with an interview: Agents of Alternatives is an independently published open book exploring the visions, actions, tools and impacts of change agents, thinkers and ‘happeners’ (those who make things happen!). It shows the creative processes and tools for designing positive societal transitions. These transitions are revealed by showing the new hybrid relationships being forged between alternative approaches to learning, living, making, socialising, thinking and working.
