Green Postures / Pose Verdi
(EN) It’s a smooth animation the one released by German railway company Deutsche Bahn but I have a few doubts on the content. I’m starting to be fed up about voices insisting that solution to climate change is a matter of consumer choice, privatizing responsability and avoiding public protests. We need large-scale transformations that depend on choices taken by government, organizations and companies. For example no one mentions the huge amount of European subsidies to airlines that allow them to sell ultra-cheap flight tickets (Milano-Amsterdam by plane costs 50 euros, by train costs 144 euros!) to many cities in Europe. Let’s chain ourself to a tree until they transfer those subsidies to railway companies.
Some women believe it’s ok / Alcune donne pensano sia ok
[EN] I was wondering if this infographic was too strong to start the season after summer break. But I spent the summer reading Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson and if you are one of the 9 million people who read it too, you’ll see the connection. The graph, taken from Global Health Magazine and made from Unicef data, shows the percentage of women aged 15–49 responding that a husband or partner is justified in hitting or beating his wife under certain circumstances. I checked if I could find some reports on Europe too and I found Wave Networks reports (a network of European women’s non-governmental organisations working in the field of combating violence against women and children): take a look at their activities!

The Big Brother State / Lo stato del grande fratello
(EN) The infographics video by 2D and 3d animator David Scharf explains clearly how the concept of security has easily become the path to a neoliberal police state. The real question is: are we willing to trade our freedom for temporary security? I wouldn’t forget though that the demand of security is quite common in the public opinion. Probably has come the time to reflect and produce content showing how the perception of “security” becomes real when there are policies working on social bond, public space and social inclusion instead of surveillance.
